American Conference on Theoretical Chemistry 2024

WELCOME to the American Conference on Theoretical Chemistry 2024! Our conference will take place June 17 (Monday) - 20 (Thursday), 2024, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). We welcome you to the charming college town of Chapel Hill in North Carolina's Research Triangle Region. Chapel Hill is conveniently located about 20 minutes drive from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU); the region is about a three hour drive from the Appalachian mountains and a similar distance from coastal beaches and the Outer Banks.

The American Conference on Theoretical Chemistry (ACTC) has been held about every three years for half a century, and its historical origin dates back to 1951. ACTC brings together the theoretical chemistry community to discuss the latest cutting-edge research. ACTC 2024 will cover a wide range of topics within theoretical chemistry, including electronic structure, statistical mechanics, and quantum dynamics, as well as applications to biology and energy science. We are particularly excited to have some special morning sessions at ACTC 2024 focused on broader issues, including the history and philosophy of theoretical chemistry, frontier exprerimental challenges facing theory, issues surrounding the publication and support of theoretical chemistry, and frontiers of computing.

All sessions will be held at the beautiful Carolina Inn on the UNC campus, with talks Monday through Thursday. ACTC 2024 provides excellent opportunities for students, postdoctoral scholars, and other early-career researchers to disseminate their research to the community through two poster sessions on Monday and Tuesday. ACTC attendees will enjoy summer evenings in the charming town of Chapel Hill after the poster sessions. On Wednesday evening, a Conference Dinner will be held at the Carolina Inn.
